History
In 1999, Woodward Park Recreation Center advertised for a new track program season. Dwayne Logan, Head Coach and Operations Coordinator, organized a handful of kids into the Woodward Park Track Team. The team gelled quickly, and Coach Dwayne brought in experienced assistant coaches to help train the kids over the next 10 years.
Some kids joined for exercise, some kids joined for competition. Some were prompted by their parents, others were motivated by their desire to win a race. The team began competing in Recreation meets and ran under Woodward Park Rec Center. In 2003, Coach Dwayne took the team on a National Circuit under former team name Scioto Track Club. Since that time, Coach Dwayne has developed several State Champions and National Qualifiers. Unexpectedly, a family was born, friendships formed, and with the end of the 2008 track season, it was decided it was time for a new beginning. At the 2008 end-of-the-season pizza party, it was clear that the team would go on and a Board of Directors would be elected. This helped Coach Dwayne organize the team for 2009, and the Ohio Lightning Track and Field Club was formed.
